LAHORE: The University of Okara’s Department of Communication Studies on Thursday organized a seminar on career counselling for its students. The news anchor Najam-Ul-Hassan conducted an interactive session on pursuing a career in digital media.
Speaking at the occasion, he highlighted the importance of online journalism in the media landscape and urged the students to build their skills and careers in digital media. Mr Hassan trained the students on how to set up their own channels on Youtube and other popular social media platforms. He shared certain key tips and techniques based on his professional experience. “Social Media is altogether a new and vibrant media environment where you can easily and cost-effectively produce and disseminate good content and make money,” he added.
The HoD of Communication Studies, Dr Zahid Bilal also delivered a motivational lecture to sensitize the students to embellish their capabilities and hunt a variety of opportunities available in the field of broadcast media, print media and social media.
“The communication studies is a multidimensional degree. After completing this degree, you would have a range of opportunities in TV, radio, newspapers, public relations, advertising, corporate communication, marketing communication and a vast and open playing field of digital media”, he said.
