UHE signs MoU with Skardu varsity

LAHORE: A 90-member delegation from University of Baltistan Skardu, headed by its Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Naeem Khan visited the University of Home Economics (UHE) here on Friday.
Vice-Chancellor UHE Prof Dr Kanwal Ameen along with senior faculty members welcomed the delegation. The delegates visited the various departments of the university including human development and family studies, textiles and clothing, food and nutrition and art and design department where they were briefed in details about every department. The University of Home Economic (UHE), Lahore, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the University of Baltistan, Skardu, for research, academic collaboration. UHE Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Kanwal and the Skardu University VC Dr Prof Muhammad Naeem Khan also signed the accord on this occasion.
While talking to Daily The Business VC Prof Dr Kanwal Ameen said that according to the five-point accord, both the universities agreed to launch a joint academic research activity, student, academic and administrative staff exchange, exchange of publications, reports and other academic research materials and information, sharing of expertise and experiences for conduction of joint capacity building training workshops in the field of quality enhancement in Higher Education and nomination of subject experts, bilaterally for the purpose of assessment of academic programs to host the students from each other and provide them with accommodation and access to laboratories and libraries besides other necessary support. She asserted that the establishment of new universities is very important for the promotion of higher education.
“The UHE has been endeavouring to foster versatile growth of women through diversified learning based on pedagogic excellence. She said that varsity has also been focusing to groom the students as empowered independent thinkers, professionals, entrepreneurs, researchers and compassionate individuals with a high sense of social responsibility, values, harmony and culture” she expressed. Dr Kanwal also thanked the delegation for visiting University and providing support in research and other fields.
While speaking at the occasion, VC University of Baltistan Skardu Prof Dr Muhammad Naeem provided information about his university and invited the University of Home Economics Lahore to visit Skardu University. VC said that his university is situated in the heart of mountains a distance of half an hour away from ‘Deosai plains’ but the area. It is pertinent to mention here, the university area the highest literacy rate and the lowest crime rate are considered.
He expressed that these education exchange programmes between both the universities especially in nutrition and tourism would definitely be enhanced academic research and coordination. He also extended his gratitude over services of VC Home Economics and faculty members to revamp the varsity accordance with the present needs.
In the end, both Vice-Chancellors have also affirmed to enhance the cooperation in various projects and research in the future.
