LAHORE: The Child Protection and Welfare Bureau Punjab (CPWB) on Wednesday foiled a bid to abuse a child when an employee of bureau was about to abuse the child within the premises of its Lahore office during late night hours on September 20, The Business has learnt.
According to the sources in CPWB, the accused hostile attended in bureau, Usman s/o Ehsan Ul Haq was trying to harass a child Mr ‘A’ during midnight on September 20, 2019. The sources said accused Usman was caught red handed by a senior officer during a surprise visit of children residence in bureau. The sources further said the on requested of Mr A, a FIR has been registered under plaintiff of Mr Zafar Iqbal in Mughalpura Police Station.
The sources further claimed that such incidents had also been reported in previous management tenor, but unfortunately they didn’t take any serious action against such culprits who were involved in such heinous cases. He alleged that after their temporary suspension, all employees were reinstated after few months of the incident due to political interference.
The citizens have expressed grave concern over the situation and said that it seems that thieves are taking care of the business at the bureau and in such circumstances who can be trusted upon.
While talking to this reporter Chairperson CPWB Ms Sarha Ahmed said that a child attendant who was hired by the previous government tried to abuse a child. On this information, due to the fool proof system in bureau, the authorities took a bold decision & based on evidence got the culprit arrested, she said.
“There is a zero tolerance policy towards even an attempt to child abuse in the bureau & nobody should dare to do so.”, says Chairperson Child Protection Bureau. The authorities themselves involved DIG Operations Lahore & got FIR registered to set an example for all, she added. To a question about previous practices in the bureau, she didn’t comment on it.
