Lahore: The key note speakers, at Quaid-e-Azam Academy for Educational Development (QAED), highlighted role of education managers and school teachers to curb extremism and violence to promote peace, harmony and tranquility in the social fabric of Pakistani society.
They said that awareness, sensitization and advocacy of action for peace and good citizenship among students was a must job which could the teaching community could do only.
Quaid-e-Azam Academy for Educational Development (QAED), Punjab is the premier training institution for the professional development of more than 0.4 million human resource of School Education Department, Govt. of the Punjab. QAED is committed to ensure quality education in public schools in the Punjab through need-based professional development of teachers and education managers.
In pursuance of this, QAED organized seminar on “Role of Education Managers / Teachers in Narrative Building: Citizenship and Peace Building to Curb Extremism and Violence from Society” and invited eminent speakers from intellectuals of Pakistan; and scholars, education leaders and school teachers from the selected diaspora of the Punjab.
Director General, QAED Punjab, Ahmad Khawar Shahzad, (PhD Scholar, PEP Peace Award-2019), presented inaugural address of the seminar with his luminary and innovative ideas by contextualizing fifth generation war strategies waged by the foes of Pakistan.
In his speech, Khawar, Director General (Work Charge) QAED, expressed that this seminar, Maimaran-e-Pakistan, was part of a series of seminars held under the umbrella of ‘Paigam-e-Pakistan’ program at QAED Punjab. The purpose of this seminar was to create awareness, sensitization and advocacy of action for peace and good citizenship among education managers and school teachers with the intent to curb extremism and violence and to promote peace, harmony and tranquility in the social fabric of Pakistan. He also explained that the Annual Report (2018-19) encapsulated the entire information about all the projects and plans being run by QAED Punjab. The publication of the annual report is in itself a ground-breaking step on the part of QAED. It was an overarching report covering the operational side of all the wings of QAED. He further stated that the report was approved by the former Director-General QAED, Muhammad Yaqub Khan who approved Research and Publication Centre on the recommendations of the Addl. Director-General QAED, Khawar. Professor Dr. Zia-Ul-Haq, Director General IRI, International Islamic University, Islamabad stated, “Success of Pakistan will be a success of Islam in the contemporary society”. Major General Ubaid Bin Zakria, Vice-Chancellor Lahore Garrison University emphasized the value of understanding conflict resolution and its impact on society. Prof. Dr. Naumana Amjad addressed the psychological development of children through sharing examples from society. Lt. General Ghulam Mustufa, the chief guest, reiterated the message of becoming an inspirational teacher who can bring an impact in the lives of their students. The speakers appreciated the endeavors of Mr. Khawar Shahzad for taking the initiative of establishing Research Center and publication of the Annual Report. These initiatives stated Major General retired Obaid Bin Zaid will enhance academic excellence at QAED.
At this occasion, Lt. General Muhammad Aslam Saleem, HI (M), inaugurated Mosque at QAED Punjab. Major General Obaid Bin Zakria HI (M) (Retd.), Vice-Chancellor, Lahore Garrison University inaugurated “Research and Publication Center”. Lt. General Ghulam Mustufa, HI (M). (Retd.) inaugurated maiden Annual Report (2018-19) and distributed certificate of appreciation to Dr. Samia Naz (Course Coordinator), Nadeem Asghar (Deputy Director-Planning) and Arshad Mamhood (Deputy Director-Admn) for their contribution and dedicated work in the report. At the end of the ceremony, commemorative shields were presented to the eminent participants by Brig. Yasub Ali Dogar and Ahmad Khawar Shahzad, Director General, QAED Punjab, Lahore.
