LAHORE: University of Engineering & Technology (UET) Lahore organised a seminar titled “Ramooz-e-Ramadan” in campus on Wednesday. At this occasion a renowned religious scholar Syed Junaid Ghaznvi participated as chief guest and delivered a lecture on blessings and virtues of the holy month of Ramadan. Vice Chancellor UET Lahore Prof Dr Aziz Akbar, Registrar Muhammad Asif, deans of faculties, heads of various departments, faculty members, employees and a large number of students attended the event.
Addressing a huge gathering, Dyed Junaid Ghaznvi said, “we are Muslims and this identity is enough to our introduction. Islam is the religion of brotherhood, tolerance and peace.
Allah has blessed us with the Holy month of Ramadan and God has revealed the first verses of the Holy Quran to our beloved Prophet in this month.”He gave the reference of the preaches of Holy Prophet; “When the month of Ramadan starts, the gates of heaven are opened, and the gates of hell are closed, and the devils are chained.” He also said that “fasting is one of the five key pillars of our Islamic faith. Whether the others are prayer, zakat, making the Hajj pilgrimage to Mecca and, of course, a belief in the Muslim faith. During the whole month people abstain from food, drink and intercourse from sunrise to sunset.
This practice helps them to feel the hunger and thirst of other poor people in the world.”
At the event Vice-Chancellor UET Prof. Dr. Aziz Akbar welcomed Syed Junaid Ghaznvi in UET by saying,“This lecture has very significant importance for university students. Indeed, the success of the world and hereafter is on following the teachings of our beloved Prophet PBUH.”After that he presented the souvenir to the honorable guest.
