LAHORE: Queen Mary College Lahore held its 25 th Convocation Ceremony on 30 th April, 2019. The chief guest for the ceremony was the Provincial Minister of Punjab for Higher Education and Tourism, Raja Yasir Humayun Sarfraz. As guest of honor Vice Chancellor University of the Punjab, Mr. Niaz Ahmad attended the ceremony along with the principal of Queen Mary College, Dr, Irfana Maryam.
The ceremony formally commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran followed by the tribute to Holy Prophet (PBUH) in form of Naat. After this Dr. Irfana Maryam welcomed all guests to the ceremony and presented the annual report of the college.
Addressing the students, the
principal said that the progress and development of any country
depends upon the education of
its women. In a developing country like Pakistan, where females
constitute approximately half of
the population, the participation of women is pivotal for the social
and economic development of
the country. In today’s world the role of women in the economic,
political and moral
development of the society, cannot be undermined and that education
lays the foundation for that
In the ceremony degrees were conferred to 463 students of BA, B.Sc.,
BS Hons. and MA.
Moreover medals were awarded to distinction holders among which 29
students received Gold
medals, 14 students received Silver medals and rolls of honor were
awarded to 80 students.
Chief Guest of the Ceremony, Raja Sarfraz Humayun encouraged the
students and appreciated
the efforts of the college. He said that for the economic development
of the country high quality
of the curriculum, teachers and the students combined, plays a great
role. He added that Queen
Mary College takes pride in its great tradition and the students who
pass out from here truly
deserve praise. While addressing the students he said that they are an
asset for the bright future
of the country. He extended his hopes of them being leaders for the
coming generations and
laying strong foundations for a prosperous Pakistan.
Concluding the ceremony the Principal, Dr. Irfana Mrayam presented
honorary shields to the
chief guest and guest of honor.
