LAHORE: The Qazi Group of School (QGS) grade seven’s student secured first position in the national Maarif Inter-Schools Math Olympiad (MISMO) contest 2019-2020, Daily The Business has learnt here on Thursday.
The main objective to hold MISMO competition was to exchange academic culture and strengthen the bond between management and administration, teachers, and students of different private and government schools of the country participated in it.
Amna Tahir, a student of Qazi Group of School was awarded cash prize Rs 50,000and certificates for securing the first position in the MISMO during a national prize distribution ceremony for 2019-2020 held in a hotel of Islamabad the other day. The Turkish Ambassador to Pakistan Mr Ihsan Mustafa Yurdakul graced the ceremony as a chief guest which was attended by the Director Pak-Turk Maarif International Schools and Colleges Harun Küçükaladağli, faculty, teachers, students and their families beside a large number of people from all segments of society.
While talking to this reporter, Qazi Muhammad Naeem Anjum, CEO Qazi Group of Schools expressed his views about bagging the first position and said it was a good initiative of Pak-Turk school to promote linkage among the students across Pakistan to through such healthy co-curriculum competitions. He said that such contest not only would enhance the capacity of the students but also be a source of inspiration for other students. He also said that such activities would create more confidence among the students.
In order to motivate students, Pak-Turk Maarif International Schools and Colleges had arranged Maarif Inter-Schools Math Olympiad– ISMO 2019 on November 30, 2019. This unique competition provided a great chance for the students of Grade 5, 6, 7 and 8 to show their incredible potential in mathematics and was rewarded by the institution. The top 15 position holders from 5th to 8th grades have been awarded prizes at all regions, including Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi, Quetta, Hyderabad, Khairpur, Multan and Peshawar.
In his welcome speech, Director Pak-Turk Maarif International Schools and Colleges Harun Küçükaladağli disclosed that the competition was held in 44 exam centres across 20 cities and 754 different schools of Pakistan which included of Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Peshawar, Quetta, Karachi, Multan, Khairpur Mirs, Jamshoro and Hyderabad. He added that more than 16,000 participants across Pakistan too par in this contest.
While addressing the ceremony, Turkish Ambassador to Pakistan Ihsan Mustafa Yurdakul shared his views regarding such an appreciable step taken by Pak-Turk Maarif International Schools and Colleges and assured support for the occurrence of such events.
The winners and distinguished students were awarded prizes and congratulated by Turkish Ambassador to Pakistan Ihsan Mustafa Yurdakul and Director Pak-Turk MISC.
“We really thank our brilliant students, esteemed teachers, honourable parents and respected guests for making this event a memorable and everlasting day,” said the Director Pak-Turk. He says that story does not end here; to participate in the next MISMO competition, get yourself ready for the year 2020-2021. He informed that the registrations will be opened in October this year.
