LAHORE: The Punjab Government on Monday extended the winter vacations in the schools of Punjab due to the current clod wave in the province.
In this regard, a notification was issued by the Schools Education Department, Punjab directed to all public and private schools in the province re-open on January 13. “In the wake of weather conditions, the winter vacations are hereby extended with effect from Jan 7, 2020, to Jan 12, 2020, in all public and private schools in Punjab,” read the notification.
The notification was forwarded to all deputy commissioners and other officials of the provincial government. The Punjab government had earlier announced 15-day winter vacations across the province starting Dec 20, 2019, till Jan 5, 2020.
Similarly, the Provincial Minister for School Education Murad Raas had also said in his tweet on Jan 5, 2020, “My dear students are ready for School. As you can see in the coded message below, please open the Schools immediately. I want to wish my Honourable Teachers & my dear students the best for School starting tomorrow”.
Later on, after one day reopening the schools, the minister announced the extension in winter vacations for more 7 days for Punjab from January 7 to January 12, 2020. He added that the all public and private schools across the province of Punjab will be reopened on January 13, 2020.
