LAHORE: The Punjab Food Minister Samiullah Chaudhary resigned from his position on Monday for his alleged involvement in sugar crises and inaction of reforms in the food industry.
In his resignation, Samiullah Chaudhry said that he decided to resign from his position after meeting with Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar.
According to resignation, a copy of which is available with Daily The Business, “For the completion of Prime Minister Imran Khan agenda, he is ready to sacrifice thousands of such ministries,” he wrote.
The provincial Minister Food said that he has been faced some baseless allegation for a few days over not bringing reforms in his ministry.
Due to these reasons, “I voluntary step down from the position of provincial minister for food. I don’t eligible himself for this position until I couldn’t prove himself innocent,” read the letter. The letter further reads that he is willing to present himself for accountability at every forum.
The resignation of the provincial minister for food came after a report by the Federal Investigation Agency claimed that top PTI members were among those who gained from the recent sugar crisis in the country.
