PTI govt plan evolves for massive tree plantation to overcome environment degradation; Ejaz Chaudhary

LAHORE: The Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) on Thursday organised a ‘Billion Tree Tsunami ‘ awareness walk of tree plantation from Jillani Park to Bagh-e-Jinnah.
The walk led by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Punjab president Ejaz Ahmed Chaudhary, flanked by PTI leader Raja Rashid Hafeez, PHA chairman Yasir Gillani besides PHA officials and large people from various walks of life participated in the walk. Ejaz Ahmed Chaudhary started the walk by planting a sapling in Jillani Park.
Talking to mediamen, He said entire nation should extend cooperation for making Clean and Green campaign successful as per vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan.
He urged people to actively participate in tree plantation campaign to improve the environment. PTI Punjab president said that PHA gardeners were source of pride for all of us.
Ejaz Chaudhary reiterated that the Punjab government has evolved a comprehensive plan to bring the maximum area under tree plantation which would help overcome environment degradation.
Speaking the occasion, PHA Director General Ghulam Farid said that walk was arranged with a vision to promote awareness regarding tree plantation among people.
“It is our moral and national obligation to plant saplings for coming generations with a vision to provide them good environment” he said.
Talking to Daily The Business, a source from Punjab Forest Department said the tree plantation across the province would help control the growing environmental pollution.
“Nine million saplings would be planted in Punjab during the monsoon tree plantation campaign,” he added.
He said that providing a clean environment to people was the priority of the government, adding that tree plantation was a service to humanity.
The official further said that 830,000 saplings would be planted in the Rawalpindi region under the Monsoon Tree Plantation Campaign 2019.
A senior official of National Highway Authority while talking to this scribe said that Punjab govt was fully supporting NHA to initiate ‘Apni Shahrah project’, which would provide fresh oxygen and scenic beauty to travellers in the country.
He said the Punjab govt would plant 20,000 saplings in a 40 km long area, across the highway in Gujrat and Jhelum districts.
He further said that the NHA was contributing a national responsibility by strengthening the ‘Clean and Green Pak.
