LAHORE: Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan has said that Pakistan has come out of the worst ever economic crisis and there would be good time ahead as the government is looking forward to increasing growth, opening employment, constructing low-cost housing for the common people.
The PM was talking to reporters during his visit to Lahore today (Saturday).
“We have had to face the regretful current account deficit that devalued the Pakistani rupee by 35 percent resulting in high inflation with which I am fully cognizant the fact. I know that the people are upset with the inflation and unemployment but now with the Grace of Allah Almighty that we have come out of the economic crisis you will see that there would be a positive change after every month and every six months,” he said, adding that opposition had done its best to divert the government’s attention to destabilize the government to save plundered money.
Inflation and unemployment are the two mega issue of the people, he said, explaining “now we are going toward installing industry and bringing investment in the country and every month there will be improvement.”
While talking about the issue of rising smog he said: “The issue of pollution has been aggravating for the last 20 years and no one had ever taken any notice. This is the first time that the government has taken up the issue on war footing. Earlier, there were only two centres for monitoring the smog and air quality and that too were out of order. Now we have decided to install 10 more centres in Lahore and 30 all across the Punjab. For the first time the people will be able to rightly informed about the air quality and pollution. The issue has aggravated all across the globe which has affected the weather pattern. When the monitoring centers will be operative there will be exact information about the issue of smog and pollution.”
The PM stated that the major reason for the increasing smog is the transportation that is utilizing the substandard, Euro-2 and by 2020 all the transportation gradually would be converted to Euro-4 oil and then finally to Euro-5. Defiantly the fuel will be costly but it would be protecting the lives of the youth and old-age,” the prime minister highlighted.
“In order to improve governance in Punjab we have posted the best ever bureaucrats. I and CM Usman Buzdar worked on the plan for three day and finalized the program. We have appointed IGP on merit bases and there will be sea change in the Punjab governance,” the PM said.
Responding to the illness issue of former PM Nawaz Sharif, he said that the most experienced doctors have prepared report on the illness of Nawaz Sharif and the report showed that Mian Nawaz Sharif should be allowed to go abroad for treatment.
“The court has ruled that after every two weeks a report will be submitted on the health condition of Mian Nawaz Sharif that will be before all and sundry,” the PM affirmed.
