Only Pakistan can turn the tables so quickly: Ramiz Raja

ISLAMABAD: Referring to unpredictable Pakistan team’s top performance against England in the 2019 Cricket World Cup (CWC) match, former skipper and cricket commentator Ramiz Raja said it is only the Green-shirts who can turn the tables so quickly, without taking pressure of the past defeats.
Pakistan once again proved their unpredictability and knocked the CWC favourites England by 14 runs at Trent Bridge on Monday.
Ramiz said what analysis one can give for a team like Pakistan. “On one day they (Pakistan) lose miserably but on the next day they shine as bright as the sun,” he said in his YouTube Channel.
He said Pakistan team deserves all the praise for not losing hope after getting crushed at the hands of the West Indies team in their first CWC match.
“Losing to West Indies had caused a lot of embarrassment for Pakistan but our team took all the negativity of the first defeat and converted it into positivity in their second match against England,” he said.
Ramiz said Pakistani players played the short ball very remarkably and also dominated the English spinners. “Fielding of the players was seen improved and the bowlers that Pakistan pitched against the English batsmen did their job well,” he said.
He said our opening partnership between Fakhar Zaman (44 runs) and Imam-ul-Haq (36 runs) paved way for the middle order to perform better. “Muhammad Hafeez, who scored 84 runs against England, had been contributing good runs for quite some time now and is dominating the middle order,” he said.
Ramiz said the Pakistani batsmen took away the game from England and put them under pressure when 90 plus runs were scored in the last 10 overs. “Mohammad Amir, Wahab Riaz and Shadab Khan bowled extremely good and controlled the English batsmen very well,” he said.
He said Pakistan team unleashed its talent very well against England. “Recovering in such a wonderful way against England after suffering from a sequence of defeats shows the passion for comeback in the team,” he said.
Former pacer Shoaib Akhtar said he had already predicted that Pakistan would beat England. “Pakistan team made a comeback with a bang and this was the passion which was missing in the previous match,” he said in his YouTube Channel.
He lauded Wahab’s performance in the match saying this was the reason he wanted Wahab in the team. Shoaib while praising Sarfraz Ahmed’s captaincy in the match against England said Sarfraz was seen fighting for victory. “England did a big mistake while inviting Pakistan to bat first after winning the toss,” he said.
