Okara University observes National Voters’ Day
Everybody must use right the vote to decide the individual’s destiny: Vice-Chancellor UO

OKARA: The University of Okara (UO) observed the National Voters Day to create awareness among students/public and highlight the importance of the right to cast their vote. The National Voters Day is observed on 7th December throughout the country.
In this regard, a seminar was organized by the Department of Mass Communication of OU held at the Main Library here on Monday where a large number of students and UO staff were also present.
Speaking at the occasion, Vice-Chancellor UO, Prof Dr Muhammad Zakria Zakar said that every citizen should be registered for a vote as the right to vote empowers individuals to change their lives and society at large.
“Vote is the beauty of democracy which is the only solution of modern-day problems and challenges. Instead of complaining about the problems, all citizens should come to actively participate in the electoral process by registering their votes and choosing their own legitimate representatives at right time”, said Dr Zakar.
He further said that the UO’s mission is to inculcate the moral and democratic values among the 12,000 enrolled students along with providing them with quality higher education. “The youth should realize their civic responsibility and for the educated representatives in a bid to initiate social change.”
The speakers also highlighted the importance of the vote in a democratic society and urged the participants to register their votes and use this right wisely so that their social and economic problems could be addressed.
