Nathiagali, Ayubia to be turned into big tourism spots: PM

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has given directions to turn Nathiagali, Ayubia and Galyat into major tourists’ centers.
According to details, PM Imran Khan after spending his Eid in Nathiagali, decided to promote tourism in the mountainous regions while further instructing to conduct a survey to find out more attractive spots in Galyat.
He asked concerned authorities to build three-star hotels, food streets, cinema, chair lifts, and new parking areas.
The new construction will be done in collaboration with the private sector.
Following the premier’s order, the provincial ministers have started to explore new places for tourists in the area.
It is worth mentioning that due to Prime Minister Imran Khan’s tourism policies, Skardu has become the center of tourists’ attraction.
As the tourism promotion is among the preferences of the government, the sector is steadily reviving especially in the most Northern area of the country, Skardu.
Lately, a large number of foreign tourists have crowded the world’s highest altitude airport of Skardu.
In 2019 so far, more than 50,000 tourists have come to visit the Skardu in Gilgit-Baltistan region of Pakistan-administered Kashmir.
Govt to provide social protection
to vulnerable segments: Sania
Chairperson Ehsaas Programme and Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Social Protection and Poverty Alleviation Dr. Sania Nishtar has said the government will provide social protection to vulnerable segments of society through a number of programmes.
Addressing a news conference in Islamabad on Saturday, she said despite current austerity drive of the government and voluntary decision of many public sector institutions to not ask for more budget, the budget allocated for social protection has been doubled.
She said social protection aims at measures for poorest of the poor, those facing calamity and disabled people.
Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Social Protection and Poverty Alleviation said people registered with NADRA as disabled will be issued Health Insaaf Cards in order to provide them free health facility.
Under Ehsaas programme, it has been decided that blind people will be provided free white cans while those who are suffering disability of legs will be provided free wheel chairs. She said deaf people will be provided free hearing aids. A committee in this regard will be constituted soon. Chairperson Ehsaas programme said two percent quota in government jobs for disabled people will be ensured. She said Prime Minister Imran Khan has taken serious notice of not implementing this quota and directed to ensure it.
Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Social Protection and Poverty Alleviation said it has been decided to establish centers in 20 deprived districts of the country where artificial limbs will be manufactured to provide to people who become disabled.—DNA
She said consultations in this regard are ongoing with relevant institutions and provinces.
Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Social Protection and Poverty Alleviation said in order to assist old pensioners, the monthly pension of Employees Old Age Benefits Institution has been raised to Rs 6,500.
On experimental basis, Ehsaas houses will be constructed for old pensioners.
She said a new policy aimed at introducing standards and benchmarks in existing orphanages, as well as to increase their numbers, is also in offing.
Chairperson Ehsaas program said the programme has a special focus on labourers and it will bring them into the fold of social protection.
The day labourers or people doing seasonal jobs will be registered in order to make them eligible for social protection. She said a labor expert group has been constituted that meets twice weekly.=DNA
