LAHORE: The Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) on Saturday organized an awareness walk in connection with ‘anti-dengue drive’ from Allah ho Chowk, Johar town to LDA Plazz Lahore.
The walk led by PTI President Punjab Ejaz Chaudhary flanked by, GM Operations Sohail Malik besides Head of Communication Jamil Khawar officials, social mobilizers and a large number of workers.
The objective of the drive was to create awareness and highlight precautionary measures needed to be taken to combat dengue epidemic.
A special awareness camp was setup at the location where public was briefed about the importance of cleanliness and their integral role in maintaining cleanliness. The social mobilization team visited shop to shop and door to door to sensitize citizen about the purpose.
Later, leaflets containing material to sensitize the citizens about their role to control the dengue were also distributed among public.
On this occasion, Ejaz Chaudhary along with other officers of LWMC distributed awareness anti-dengue material among commuters.
While speaking the occasion, MD LWMC said that for maintaining the cleanliness, the public participation is essential, whereas the department realizes, the need of cleanliness as well as community mobilization measures in order to ensure efficient waste collection from the city and help people avoid unpleasant and filthy situation in every nook and corner of the city.
Jamil Khawar said that LWMC believes in imparting awareness amongst masses at large besides, cleanliness operations across the city. He said that LWMC is taking all possible measures to achieve desired results of forming a cleaner & healthier society.
He added that citizens can register their waste related complaints on LWMC helpline 1139 or by using mobile based application Clean Lahore.
