GCU to establish Day Care Centre for faculty members, staff: VC

LAHORE: The Government College University (GCU) Lahore is going to establish a purpose built facility of Day Care Centre for the infants and toddlers of university’s faculty members and staff.
Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Hassan Amir Shah Tuesday laid the foundation stone of the centre which would cost Rs 12 million.
GCU Registrar Saboor Khan, Treasurer Abid Shahzad, deans and chairpersons of the departments also attended the foundation-lying ceremony at the construction site on the campus.
Speaking on the occasion, Quality Enhancement Cell Director Ms Iram Sohail, who is also incharge of this Day Care Centre, said that a large of number females were teaching in GCU, and it was their main demand that the university must have proper Day Care Centre for their infants and children.
Vice-Chancellor Prof Shah said that the university had allocated funds from its own resources for this centre which would be completed within next eight months.
He said that this two-floor building would have all necessary facilities of a day care centre.
“For the time being, the university is running a small day care centre for the staff’s children at the Faculty Guest House,” he concluded.
Campus Engineer Shahid Abro also briefed the participants about the details of the Day Care Centre.
