CP&WB striving hard to set Punjab free of child-abuse

LAHORE: The Child Protection & Welfare Bureau, organized an ‘Awareness Raising Walk’ against Child Abuse, on Friday at Lalik Jan Chowk, DHA.

Ms Sarah Ahmad, Chairperson Child Protection and Welfare Bureau Punjab led the Walk. The Director General CP&WB, Lahore police representatives, members of civil society, officers and officials of the Bureau actively participated in Walk.

Participants of the walk were holding play cards and banners containing slogans against child abuse and child exploitation.

While speaking to media representatives, chairperson said it was the first time that Lahore Police is going to run a campaign against Child Abuse in collaboration with Child Protection & Welfare Bureau.

She stated that the main objective to conduct this walk to create awareness about child abuse, protection, exploitation and expressed her serious concern over increasing cases of violence against children.

She also stated that it is need of hour to differentiate between right and wrong and how the parents to prevent their children.

She appealed that the parents should also take responsibility to look after their children whenever they left home, adding that state is ultimate responsible whereas the foremost duty to watch child of parents and don’t blind trust to anyone.

The prime objective of the Child Protection & welfare Bureau is to make Punjab free child abuse in close coordination with police, she emphasized.

The chairperson reiterated that the teams of CP&WB would provide trainings on child abuse in 84 police stations and conduct workshops in police lines.
