Informed sources close to the new secretary to the CM Punjab say Mr Raheal has been enjoying good relations with one of the brothers of CM Bozdar and tribes of South Punjab as he had served Fort Manru Dera Ghazi Khan and developed good repute among local politicians because of his professionalism and courtesy.
Being PRA chairperson, he spent three and half years and introduced basic changes in the tax processes and broadened the scope of PRA as a tax collection agency.
During his tenure, PRA made visible in public, new Commission-rates were established across the province, annual revenue targets were achieved and political pressures on field officers for legal action were minimized.
Meanwhile, after the departure of Chairperson PRA, the authority, which is already facing litigation challenges, has been facing the shortage of senior officers.
The posts of Member Support Services, Commissioner Enforcement Lahore, Commissioner Enforcement Multan and Additional Commissioners in five Commission-rates have fallen vacant amid revenue shortfalls.
