Central Jail offering TEVTA courses: Rana Raza Ullah Khan

Correspondent Sahiwal: Punjab government is working hard to transform jails into rehabilitation centers so that when prisoners
come out from these jails they live their lives as law-abiding citizens and play their role in the socio-
economic development of the society diligently, said Superintendent Jail Sahiwal Rana Raza Ullah Khan.
Talking to the business he said for this purpose the education and training of the prisoners has been taken
care of besides providing the inmates with a favorable environment. Ran Raza has said that under the
speed literacy program which is the fastest  method to educate illiterate children and adults, prisoners
have been enrolled.
A prisoner said it a golden opportunity for us to learn some things here. “First we were unaware of the
value of education but now we realized that education is vision to the eyes,” the prisoner said.
While talking to Daily The Business Rana Raza said that educational exam has been setup in Sahiwal
jail for the prisoners who want to continue their education and also get acquainted with what’s
happening in outside world. He said that a prisoner teacher has taken responsibility of teaching
and will get pay .
He also said that different steps have been taken for the provision of quality facilities including a
balanced diet and clean drinking water to the inmates. He said that juvenile offenders have been provided
with free educational facilities the female prisoners are being kept in a secure and protective environment.
Different beneficial training courses have been arranged in collaboration with TEVTA to educate the
prisoners. The purpose is to train the prisoners to earn their livelihood after their release from jails, he said
He said that two courses for women including beautician and embroidery has been chosen the main
objective of the courses are to train beauty techniques to work in beauty parlors and for self-grooming &
self-employment. Knowledge of hair and skin care, Manicure, Pedicure, Makeup, Eyebrows, Eye lashes,
Facial treatment diet and nutrition, Hair cutting, Dressing, Styling and coloring, Knowledge of fitness
and diet for healthy look to acquaint themselves with latest cosmetology techniques. All would empower
women to start their own business when they get free from prison.
He told that technical courses have been chosen for male prisoners including Welder, Motor Cycle
Mechanic, Tractor Mechanic. The main purpose to chose these courses to able them to add positive in the
national economy ,he said.
He said that the basic aim is to provide education facility to prisoners and make them good and dignified
citizens of the country. They would live independent and graceful life when they free from prison, Rana
Raza said.
