BISP removed 2, 543 government officers from beneficiaries data

LAHORE: As many as 2,543 officers of the governments and supposes some of them have been removed from the list of the beneficiaries of the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) by the BISP Headquarters, Daily The Business has learnt here on Wednesday.

According to an official report, a copy of which is available with The Business, a total of 2,543 officers of Grade-17 to Grade-21 from provincial and federal governments including Punjab, Baluchistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK), Sindh, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), Gilgit Baltistan (GB) were registered with BISP for getting financial assistance as a beneficiary, whereas the BISP was established in 2008 by the PPP government to provide monetary assistance to the poorest people of the country.

The data revealed that out of 2,543 these registered officers with BISP, 1122 officers had form Sindh, 741 from Baluchistan, 403 from KPK, 137 from Punjab, 62 from Federal Government, 46 from GB, 22 from AJK, 6 from BISP and one from Pakistan Railways.

The report stated that 1,446 officers of Grade-17, 604 officers of Grade-18, 604 of Grade-18, 429 of Grade-19, 61 of Grade-20 and three officers of Grade-21 were registered fraudulently among data of deserving peoples across Pakistan.

The data further revealed that the highest number of 1,122 government officers who were belonged to Sindh province, out of whom, 449 of Grade-17, 342 of Grade-18, 302 of Grade-19 and 29 of Grade-20.

The second-largest number of 7,41 government officers registered from Baluchistan, out of whom 523 officers of Grade-17, 90, of Grade-18, 99 of Grade-18, 27 of Grade-19, and two of Grade-21.

The 3rd largest number of 403 officers were detected from KPK, out of total numbers 288 officers were Grade-17, 94, 19 and 2 of Grade-18, 19 and 20 respectively.

Similarly, 137 officers from Province of Punjab who has been getting assistance amount as poor and deserving beneficiaries from BISP for a long time, among them 88 officers were Grade-17, 45 of Grade-4, and four of Grade-19.

Likewise, 62 officers were registered under the umbrella of the Federal Government of the 48 officers were listed of Grade-17, 10 of Grade-18, two of Grade-20 while one from each Grade-19 and Grade-21.

Moreover, 46 officers from GB, 22 from AJK, six from the BISP who were registered in the list of poorest people data beside one officer form Pakistan Railways.

The people of Pakistan have expressed their serious concerns after reporting the BISP scam on electronic media and said that one’s should be punished according to in accordance with the law.

The people also appealed to Prime Minister Imran Khan for taking strict action against all those government officers and all those ‘culprits’ who were involved throughout the process.

Its prime responsibility of the PTI government to recover the tax money of the people of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan at any coast, the citizens of the country have demanded.
