LAHORE: Chief Collector Customs and collector Lahore Preventive have
awarded the customs Airport officers and officials for foiling bid to
smuggle 275 kg ketamine worth billions of rupees.
Ketamine is known probably for its history of abuse as a club drug.
But it could also be one of the biggest breakthroughs in treating
severe depression in years.
The Customs authorities on the direction s of additional collector
Tayyba Kiyani Moeed searched the luggage of a passenger and recovered
275 kg ketamine rapped in the sweets in the boxes. Chief collector
Zeba Hai Azhar and collector Ahmed Rauf appreciated the officers and
officials service who foiled bid to smuggle ketamine.
Collectorate of Customs Preventive team deputed at Allama Iqbal
International Airport (AIIA) foiled a bid to smuggle ketamine to
Malaysia worth Rs650 million.
Chief Collector Zeba Hai Azhar and Rauf Ahmed gave away certificate of
excellence to Assistant Collector Salman Javaid, superintendent Malik
Javaid, inspectors Rana Munir Niazi and Mian Tariq and others for
their successful operation.
The collector said that the party that attempted to smuggle the drugs
would be dealt with iron hand according to law and a case has been
registered against them.
He said that further their investigations are underway.
On the occasion collector Customs Rauf Ahmed lauded the efforts of the
airport customs officials and officers including additional collector
Tayaba Kiyanai Moeed and assistant collector Salman Javaid.
The chief collector hopped that the customs officers and officials
would further prove to be an iron wall against any illegal movement of
drugs and other goods and articles.

Ahmad Rauf received credible information about smuggling of narcotics
through Allama Iqbal International Airport. He immediately constituted
a team under the supervision of Additional Collector Tayyaba Kayani
The customs team also included Assistant Collector Salman Javed and
Superintendent Malik Javed. During checking of luggage of Qatar
Airline flight they intercepted a parcel and recovered 275 kilograms
ketamine tactfully concealed in a 450 kilograms food-stuff consignment
destined for Malaysia via Qatar airline.
The parcel was booked by M/s IV Trading Company Lahore.
Sources that customs team detained the parcel and after registering
FIR started further investigations.
It is pertinent to mention here that Additional Collector Tayyaba
Kayani Moeed directed all anti-smuggling squad especially deputed at
exit and entry points of the city to adopt zero tolerance policy
She directed that anyone who found involved in smuggling should be
dealt with iron hands.
