Babar Azam becomes fastest Asian batsman to score 3000 ODI runs

Pakistan’s star batsman Babar Azam has accomplished yet another milestone after scoring 3000 ODI runs during their World Cup contest against New Zealand.

The right-handed batsman has become the fastest Pakistani and Asian batsman to reach the feat. He took just 68 innings to score 3000 runs at an average of 51.72 and it includes nine centuries and 14 fifties.

Overall, he is the second fastest batsman in the world after Hashim Amla to score as many runs. Amla reached the milestone in just 57 innings. However, Inzamam-ul-Haq of Pakistan scored 3000 ODI runs in 87 innings while India’s Shikhar Dhawan took 72 matches to achieve the landmark.

It is pertinent to mention here that Pakistan have outclassed unbeaten New Zealand with the bowl after they were asked to field first in a life-saving outing of the World Cup for them.

The men in green showed potential as Shaheen Shah Afridi took three wickets to remain on the top of the bowling chart while Mohammad Amir and Shadab Khan kept things tight by taking a wicket each.

The green team have to win all of their next matches to qualify for the semi-final of the tournament. They will face Afghanistan and Bangladesh in their last two matches of the mega event.
