70th anniversary celebration of founding of People’s Republic of China held

LAHORE: The celebration of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China was held at the PC Hotel in Lahore the other day.

Provincial Minister for Education Murad Rass and the Finance Minister
Hashim Jawan Bukhas were the chief guest on the who performed the cake cutting ceremony to mark the day. Consul General Long Dingbin hosted the ceremony while Country Head CIR Xiams, Pakistan-China Friendship Association Khyber Syed Ali Nawaz Gilani, Consul Li Heping, Ambassador Ramtullah Javed, The Urban Unit CEO Khalid Sherdil, Sr. Research Aynalyst- Special Economic Zone Sara Ibtasar, senior journalist Arif Nizami and a large number of Pakistani and Chinese dignitaries’ were present on the occasion.

Minister Education said that the exemplary economic growth and
development of China is because of hard-work and Pakistan should also
follow suit.

October 1, 2019 will mark the 70th anniversary of the founding of the
People’s Republic of China. General Secretary of the Communist Party
and Chairman of the Central Military Commission Xi Jinping, who will
be the guest of honor, will inspect troops along Chang’an Avenue in
Beijing and give the holiday address to the nation and to Chinese
expatriates abroad.

The founding of the People’s Republic of China was officially
proclaimed by Mao Zedong, the Chairman of the Communist Party of China
on 1 October 1949 in Tiananmen Square in Beijing. The first public
parade of the then new People’s Liberation Army took place there,

The official logo for the 70th anniversary of the founding of the
People’s Republic of China was officially unveiled by the State
Council Information Office on 3 June 2019. Many celebrations
throughout China and overseas Chinese communities have been planned
for the year of 2019.

In early September, rehearsals took place in central Beijing for the
military parade. General Cai Zhijun of the Joint General Staff said in
a press briefing that it will not be targeted “at any countries or
districts” but rather would be “committed to safeguarding world peace
and regional stability”. It is expected to be bigger than the parades
commemorating the 50th and 60th anniversary of the PRC, as well as the 2015 China Victory Day Parade.]

Although a massive National Day fireworks display had been planned
along the harbour in Hong Kong to celebate the 70th anniversary – as
it has done every year since 1997, Hong Kong government cancelled them “for safety reasons” over the protests in the city that have lasted
since March.
