Police Training School Multan upgraded, says IGP

LAHORE: Inspector General of Police Punjab Captain (retired) Arif Nawaz Khan said that in order to improve level of Police training and realising the requirements of Police training in Southern districts, Police Training School Multan has been upgraded to Police Training College Multan and the seat of Principal has also been upgraded. A notification has been issued in this regard which not only reflects the trust on training skills and capabilities of the Punjab Police but also Police Officers from South Punjab don’t need now to move Lahore or Rawalpindi for modern training courses due to the facility of this college near their districts. IG Punjab while approving the summary sent by Addl IG Training directed to hand over management control of Police School of information and analysis from Special Branch to Training Branch Punjab.
He further said that trainee officials should be conducted special courses regarding public dealing in police stations and time management so that environment of trust between police and the public could be maintained.
These views were expressed by inspector General Police Punjab Captain (retired) Arif Nawaz Khan while presiding a high level session at Central Police Office on Wednesday. Addl IG Training Tariq Masood Yaseen, DIG training Dr Suleman Sultan Rana, AIG Training Nasir Mukhtar Rajput along with other senior officers attended this session whereas respective issues of training, training syllabus and training colleges came under discussion.
In the session, Addl IG Training Tariq Masood Yaseen briefed IG Punjab about progress of training branch and the challenges faced by it.
Addl IG Training told that syllabus of training in schools and colleges have been upgraded and modernized. Despite professional training, ethical training is also being focused in this regard. IG Punjab told the officers that without moral training of officials, results from Police Force like force of developed countries cannot be achieved therefore; it is the need of time that trainee officials should be given training of ethics along with physical and training courses. He further said that pleasant environment in accordance with hygienic measures with all available resources should be a top priority and special attention should be given to physical exercise in first semester.
He emphasized upon regular holding of extracurricular activities like sports and recreational activities for making the minds of officials a mature one so that officials may show their best professionalism and may face any untoward incident or challenge with bravery after their passing out. IG Punjab directed that investigation officers should be trained that they should ensure entry of all points in case file according to the checklist before submission of challans in courts so that provision of justice could be ensured at any cost.

He further said that to counter contemporary policing challenges, investigation courses based upon modern professional skills is the need of time. For enhancing capabilities of investigation officers in all districts, refresher courses should be conducted regularly so that investigation officers may perform their duties with diligence and commitment. He moreover directed that selection of master trainers (TOT) in two phases for training of 33 modern courses should be completed soon whereas a detailed report of participation of officers and officials in training courses meant for increasing their capabilities at regional and provincial level should be sent to Central Police Office, Punjab, Lahore.
