BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, Mar 23 :Pakistan Day was enthusiastically celebrated in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, on Saturday, with Ambassador Faisal Niaz Tirmizi urging the Pakistani community to play their role in further strengthening the ties between the two countries, specially in the field of trade.
At the start of the celebration, the Pakistani ambassador hoisted Pakistan’s flag at the embassy at a largely-attended ceremony.
Pakistanis and Kyrgyz from all walks of life, including Pakistani students studying in different institutions of Kyrgyzstan, participated.
Messages of President Dr. Arif Alvi and Prime Minister Imran Khan were read out on the occasion.
During the event, Ambassador Tirmizi interacted with community members and discussed the problems they faced in Kyrgyzstan as an expatriate community and the role the Embassy could play to help resolve these issues.
He also briefed them about the progress made Pakistan was making in all sectors — economy, defence, counter-terrorism and sports.
Ambassador Tirmizi also spoke of the growing ties between Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan, and said that the prime minister would be visiting Bishkek to lead the Pakistani delegation to the next SCO Summit in June 2019. Ahead of the prime ministers visit, the defence and foreign ministers as well as other senior officials would be visiting the country.
Over three hundred guests attended the event showcasing Pakistan’s rich cultural heritage through songs, dances and cuisines.
Pakistani cuisines and refreshments were served on the occasion.
