RAWALPINDI: Amid Clean and Green Pakistan week, Zafar Qadri, general secretary of a trade union, announced to plant15,000 new saplings in Rawalpindi.
He said that the 15,000 new saplings would be planted within the cantonment area during the ongoing drive. Moreover the business community within the cantonment announced prizes for the best-performing sanitary workers during the campaign.
On the other hand Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) bounded the newly-approved and already established housing societies to plant at least 1,000 plants for every 100 kanals of land.
RDA Chairman Muhammad Arif Abbasi has said that in line with the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan, they would ensure to establish a clean and green country for the future generations.
Earlier, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf-led federal government on March 18 had launched a week long Clean and Green campaign in Islamabad.
Federal Minister for Communications and Postal Services Murad Saeed had inaugurated the campaign at a ceremony at Islamabad Airport.
Speaking on the occasion, he had said National highway authority has been entrusted with the responsibility to ensure cleanliness and greenery around its road infrastructure projects.
