IHC to hear Sharif plea for suspension of sentence on Jan.21


ISLAMABAD, (TLTP) : Finally Islamabad High Court decided on Thursday to hear former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif plea seeking suspension jail term of seven years in Al Aziza Steel Mills reference as the Registrar office has fixed the matter for January 21.


On December 24, Accountability Court Islamabad had found Nawaz Sharif guilty in Al Azizia Steel Mills reference while awarding seven year sentence to him.

A Division bench of Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani shall take up the plea of Nawaz  Sharif on January 21 who has reportedly been facing health issues in Kot Lakhpat jail Lahore. Nawaz Sharif was suffering from high fever, headache and severe body pain.

According to cause list of the Islamabad High Court, appeal of Sharif has been fixed for hearing in courtroom No. 2 listing it as criminal appeal No.1 under the head of motion cases whereas notices have been issued to the NAB in the matter.
