The CAC Exhibitions like event can prove instrumental in improving trade relations and promoting local agriculture development. Both Pakistan and China have been enjoying the loveliest brotherly relationship. Although we are different from each other in terms of the level of economic prosperity and progress, I believe Pakistan will also achieve DTB ng the same development as that of China, under the development plan of the Pakistani government. China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is a great project and the people of both the countries should be proud of this venture. CCPIT Sub-Council of Chemical Industry Vice-Chairman Chunyan Ma speaks exclusively to Daily the Business in Lahore ahead of 4th CAC Pakistan Exhibition in Lahore.

DTB: What is CAC China?

Chunyan Ma: CAC is the short name of China International Agrochemical and Crop Protection Exhibition, which is being organised by CCPIT Sub-Council of Chemical Industry (CCPIT CHEM) every March in Shanghai. CCPIT CHEM was set up in 1990 in Beijing, and launched CAC exhibition in 1999. During the next year in 2019 CAC will celebrate its 20th anniversary. CAC is world largest agro-chemical and crop protection exhibition, with more than 1,300 exhibiting companies from 30 countries and regions occupying over 80,000 square meters of exhibiting space, and over 30,000 visitors from more than 100 countries and regions. The 4th CAC Pakistan Summit, being held by CCPIT CHEM and LCCI in Lahore, is the overseas event of CAC in Shanghai.

DTB: What trade potential do you see in agro-chemical sector of both the countries?

Chunyan Ma: During the last 30 years China has made outstanding development in the agricultural sector, and immense development and progress in the sectors covering pesticide, fertilizer, seed, equipment and machinery & implement, and agro processing technologies. So far as the trade potential in the agro-chemical sectors of both countries is concerned, there is a dire need of more frequent exchange. And the CAC Exhibitions like event can prove instrumental in understanding the demand of each other to introduce advanced agricultural inputs as mentioned above, so as to improve trade ties and promote local agriculture development. For the agro-chemical industry development, we need more infrastructures and planning from both countries. Pakistan and China have been enjoying the loveliest brotherly relationship. Although we are different from each other in terms of the level of economic prosperity and progress, I believe Pakistan will also be achieving the same development as that of China, under the development plan of the its government.

DTB: You are conducting fourth exhibition in Pakistan. What response you have received in Pakistan, especially from the businessmen engaged in the agro-chemical business?

Chunyan Ma: Well, CAC exhibitions have improved the agriculture exchange greatly between Pakistan and China during the last three years. It has provided the businessmen with the most extensive opportunity of sharing their products, ideas and experiences, and conducting business cooperation.
Every year, a good number of Pakistani companies take part in CAC in Shanghai, but holding of CAC in Lahore can give the chance to the business community to meet with their counterparts, know and trust each other better. Thus the exhibition has played an important role in bringing the business community of both the countries closer and tied to each other. There have discussions that a number of Chinese companies are ready to work with close coordination with their Pakistani counterparts. I believe that during the last three years through the holding of CAC in Lahore, we and our partner LCCI have done a great job in improving cooperation and relations between the businessmen of Pakistan and China in the agro-chemical sector.

DTB: Are you satisfied with the level of interest Pakistani businessmen are taking in the CAC Exhibition every year?

Chunyan Ma: Well, I am very satisfied with the number and quality of the Pakistani visitors to the exhibition, however, the number of exhibiting companies from Pakistan as compared to the Chinese exhibiting companies is still small. I hope in the near future more local companies will also exhibit in the CAC Pakistan event, as this is one of the best platforms to promote and exhibit their products, conduct business cooperation, and serve for local agriculture development.

DTB: How many companies including Pakistani and the Chinese are holding stalls of their products in the Exhibition?

Chunyan Ma: 38 Chinese companies are holding their stalls in the exhibition while 15 Pakistani companies are exhibiting, setting up over 120 standard booths. They are from different sectors of agro-chemical industry including pesticide, fertilizer, seed, equipment, agricultural machinery, logistics, and other technologies.

DTB: How do you see the future of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC)?

Chunyan Ma: It is really a great project not only for China but also for Pakistan. This will provide a substantial chance of economic and human development of both countries. This is a great project and the people of both countries should be proud of this venture.

DTB: Thank you very much

Chunyan Ma: Thank you
