Secretary Health says we are bringing a bill against so-called violence in hospitals

LAHORE: The Young Doctors Associations (YDA) members on Friday gathered outside the Services Hospital to protest against FIR which was registered against doctors and paramedics staff of the hospital for alleged sexual abuse of a woman during operation a couple of days ago.The protesters (doctors and paramedics staff), who threw the traffic out of gear on Jail Road for several hours, also suspended the emergency, operations and outdoor services during their protest. Amid the protest hundreds of commuters stuck in the traffic jam and many serious heart patients could not be admitted to the PIC and the Services Hospital.The YDA demanded of the withdrawal of FIR and stop media trial against the doctors and paramedical staff. The association called off the protest after Principal of SIMS Prof Dr Ayaz assured them that their demands will be fulfilled. While talking Daily The Business secretary Health Saqib Zafar said that it was unfortunate which apparently observed and demonstrated by the YDA and others official for expressing their views but it was need of hours that issue would be resolved as soon as possible, adding that due to sincere efforts the protest was called off even whatever did in this matter including FIR. Secretary said all forensic reports have also been received which does not support the allegedly raped woman’s stance whereas the reports stated that nothing has happened. While responding a question about violence against healthcare providers and patients he said we are endeavoring to pass a bill against so-called violence in hospitals and homework of this bill is near to the final stage. Usually such incidents are happened frequently and we must go ahead for its permanent solution because health departments and some others which are functioned 24/7 as they have to deal with all human effected or stressed people, he stated. “We are focusing on bill because it will provide protection the paramedic staff from outsiders whereas it will also give a protection to the all patients from the paramedic staff, “ Zafar added.
