BoP union protests against president, management— Incapable people have been appointed at key posts:Union president

LAHORE: The Bank of Punjab (BoP) Employees Union Pakistan (CBA) on Monday staged a
protest demonstration against the management and the President’s anti-employee policies and
demanded of the government to accept the union’s charter of demands (CoD), by reinstating all the
dismissed employees.A good number of the BoP employees gathered in front of the Bank of Punjab
head office who were holding placards inscribed with slogans in favour of their demands.

BoP Employees Union President Ch Farooq told The Business that the Bank President Naeem Uddin and his
management as per law has not been holding any meeting with the union on the CoD which is injustice
and against the law.He said that the incumbent president has inflicted irreparable loss to the bank which
will surface afterward.“The bank has been suffering from a very bad condition as the management has
done figure work with the balance sheet, ” he said adding that the BoP President in connivance with the
political top guns of the previous government of PML-N caused great loss to the bank.He alleged that
the BoP President and his aides have gifted luxury cars, sold bank assets at throw away prices and
obliged their acquaintances by hiring their buildings on higher rents for opening branches. He disclosed
that billions of rupees The Mall plot has been sold for just millions of rupees inflicting huge losses to the
asset position of the bank.While talking about the over 30 percent salary raise the president has been
receiving every year while the lower staff have never been given any raise more than three to five
percent. He also mentioned about nepotism and ignorance of the merit as the incapable people have
been appointed at the key posts depriving the capable employees of their right of promotion.The
President’s nephew Ahmed Shah Durrani has no competence for the post of Group Head Retail yet he is
appointed on such a lucrative post, he said, adding that currently we are protesting against the
President and the management as they are not accepting and working on CoD and restoring bank’s 13
illegally retrenched employees for organising CBAunion. However, he said that the Governor Punjab Ch
Sarwar has assured theUnion office-bearers to resolve all genuine issues of the employees. The Union
announced to continue holding protest demonstrations till acceptance of their demands.
