NAB arrested 2 in clean drinking water scam

ISLAMABAD: National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has arrested Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mes. Ideal Hydrotech, Muhammad Ramzan Sheikh and other accused Asghar Khan for their alleged involvement in funds embezzlement in Clean Drinking Water for All Project which caused millions of
rupees loss to national exchequer.
As per details issued here on Friday, the accused Muhammad Ramzan in connivance with other co-accused persons gave fake bank guarantees and illegally secured mobilization advance for execution of project.
The accused Asghar Khan, an employee of a private Bank verified the fake guarantees produced by contractors.
The “Clean Drinking Water for All” project was started by Ministry of Industries and Commerce across the country to install filtration plants in different vicinities across the country.
The contractors in connivance with each other did not execute the project resulting in not only huge loss to
national exchequer but also caused failure in provision of clean water to general public.
The investigation of case is underway and more facts are about to surface. The accused persons were produced before Accountability Court Peshawar and physical custody of the accused for 11 days was obtained.
