HCSTSI expresses concern over closure of gas supply for three months
HYDERABAD: The office bearers of President Hyderabad Chamber of Small
Traders and Small Industry (HCSTSI) have expressed concern over issuance
of gas supply closure notices to captive power companies for three months from December.
In a statement issued here on Thursday, the President Hyderabad Chamber of Small
Traders and Small Industry (HCSTSI) Muhammad Farooq Sheikhani, Senior Vice President
Saleemuddin Qureshi and Vice President Muhammad Arif Memon said the decision will badly
affect the industrial sector as well as economy of the country.
They said the industrial zones of Karachi and other parts of the province
particularly the industrial units of textile, confectioneries and other export
goods fully dependent on gas and if the supply of gas will be closed for three months,
these industries will not only receive great financial losses but also
The industries being run under captive power are supposed the backbone of
the country’s economy which contribute a sizeable share in the national economy,
Closure of gas supply to these industries for a period of three months
could close the doors of products of the country products in the international market, they
said and appealed to the Prime Minister, Federal Minister for Power and
Director General SSGL to review the decision for national interest.
