Bangladesh Inflation Rate eased slightly to 5.51 percent

Bangladesh inflation rate eased slightly to 5.51 percent in July 2018 from 5.54 percent in the previous month. It was the lowest inflation since April 2017, as prices of non-food items rose at a softer pace (4.49 percent from 4.87 percent in June). On the other hand, food cost went up faster (6.18 percent from 5.98 percent). Meanwhile, consumer prices slowed in urban areas (6.37 percent from 6.38 percent) as well as in rural areas (5.04 percent form 5.07 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices went up 1.15 percent, following a 0.41 percent gain in June. Inflation Rate in Bangladesh averaged 6.56 percent from 1994 until 2018, reaching an all time high of 16 percent in September of 2011 and a record low of -0.03 percent in December of 1996.
