islamabad: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) contacted on Thursday the Interpol requesting the issuance of red warrants against deposed Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s sons Hassan and Hussain Nawaz.
According to local media reports, a letter was written to the Interpol on behalf of Pakistani government. In the letter, the Federal Investigation Agency has requested to issue red warrants for the arrest Hussain and Hassan so that they can be brought to Pakistan. The letter was sent to the Interpol from the FIA’s headquarters in Islamabad.
The two brothers are accused in a corruption reference filed by National Accountability Bureau (NAB) after the Panama Papers revelation. However, the duo have been absconding the case proceedings since last year despite repetitive summons.
The accountability court has already declared Hassan and Hussain as proclaimed offenders for their continuous failure to appear before the court.
Their sister Maryam and her husband Captain (retd) Safdar, along with Nawaz, are accused in corruption cases by the National Accountability Bureau. Nawaz, Maryam and Safdar are already in jail in the Avenfield case.
