A three-member bench presided over by Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar took up for hearing Managing Director PTV appointment case Monday. At the inception of hearing of the case CJP questioned from Attorney General (AG) Ishaq Dar was summoned and where he was. AG replied he had not come.
CJP remarked, “ Ishaq Dar has not come on being summoned by court. He is healthy and he roams therein. We will cancel his passport. We will also consider to issue his red warrants.
CJP directed AG to call counsel for Ishaq Dar and ask him why former finance minister has not come. We will do whatever we can for his return. The court while summoning ministry of interior authorities on this matter announced interval for a while during hearing.
On the resumption of hearing the CJP remarked “ Ishaq Dar is involved in MD PTV appointment case. He is senator even then he is absconding. SC has become so helpless that it cannot summon former financé minister.
Justice Ijaz-ul-Ahsan remarked, “ Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz have been convicted even then they are coming.
Chief Justice said, “ Ishaq Dar is absconding. If he does not come, we will take action. Anyone can arrest any absconding person under citizen arrest law and present him in the court.
CJP inquired from interior secretary it is right of every citizen to keep passport. Can we cancel passport of Ishaq Dar or otherwise. We respect all but others should too respect courts.
We are summoning within the ambit of law. But he does not respect courts. This can become contempt of case too. The CJP remarked “ we are giving another chance to Ishaq Dar. He should come within three days. —Online
