LAHORE: The Lahore Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) announced the names of the position holders in annual matriculation examination-2018 while a detailed result of the matriculation-2018 also declared.
A total of 2,32,046 students appeared in annual examination out of which 1,74,363 students were declared successful in the examination while percentage of successful candidates remained 75.14 percent.
In overall top positions, both of Waseem Yaseen of Punjab Daanish School, Indus Highway Road in Fazilpur district of Rajanpur and Tauseef Afzal of Ali Public Boys High School, Shah Jahan Road in Rehmanpura, Lahore bagged the overall first position by securing 1,091 marks.
The result was announced by BISE Chairman Chaudhry Muhammad Ismail in prize distribution ceremony here on Saturday at a local hotel while Commissioner Lahore Mujtaba Paracha was the chief guest of the ceremony.
The Chairman BISE, Prof Chauhdary Muhammad Ismail, Secretary Rehana Ilyas, Controller (Examination) Prof Nasir Jamil, position holders’ parents, teachers and a large number of distinguished personalities were also present.
Muhammad Hashim Faisal of The Educators (Sabzazar campus) Multan Road, Lahore and Wajiha Aslam of The Trust Girls High School in Amir Town of Harbanspura, Lahore shared the second position with 1,090 marks each and Hafsa Saleem of Allama Iqbal Public School for Girls, Raiwind Road, Kasur got the third position with 1,089 marks.
In the boys ‘science group’ Waseem Yaseen and Tauseef Afzal and Muhammad Hashim Faisal secured first position with 1,091 marks each while Muhammad Hashim Faisal got second position with 1,090 marks and Hafiz Muhammad Haris of Govt Central Model High School, Lower Mall secured third position with 1,088 marks.
In the girls` science group, Wajiha Aslam bagged the first position by securing 1,090 marks, Hafsa Saleem secured second with 1,089 marks and Areej of Hera Public High School for Girls in Nankana Sahib and Zahra Shoaib of Divisional Public Girls Higher Secondary School in Model Town, Lahore share the third position with 1,088 marks each.
In boys` humanities group, Muhammad Azeem Ikhlas, a private candidate, secured the first position by bagging 1,034 marrks, Mueenuddin, another private candidate, got the second position with 1,026 marks and Abu Bakar Asif of Rana Grammar Boys High School in Gulshan-iRavi Lahore got the third position with 1,016 marks.
In girls` humanities group, Aresha of Faroogi Girls High School on Ravi Road, Lahore secured the first position with 1,059 marks; Ayesha Mariyan of the Punjab Girls High School, Township Lahore got second position with 1,054 marks and Sohalba of Faroogi Girls High School, Ravi Road bagged third with 1,045 marks.
Commissioner Lahore Mujtaba Paracha distributed certificates and medals among the students and gave away cash of Rs 20,000, Rs 15,000 and Rs 10,000 along with gold, silver and bronze medals with respect to their positions. The BISE also awarded medals to the teachers of position holding students where as Commissioner Lahore gave laptops to first and positions holder, Waseem Yaseen and Toseef Afzal respectively.
While addressing the ceremony, Mujtaba Paracha congratulated the position holders and expressed the hope that the students will keep it up to achieve distinguished academic successes in future.
Overall Topper, Mr Tauseef Afzal who secured overall first position, while talking to daily The Business said he gave credit of his success to teachers, parents and especially his teacher of chemistry Madam Gufrana Sundus. He said he cannot express his pleasure in words. Regarding his aims and objectives in future, Tauseef said he would become a specialist doctor of heart surgery.
On this occasion, positions holders affirmed that they would get more success in their lives with dedication, hard work and honesty.
