Punjab govt fulfills promise of free, fair election: Dr Hasan Askari

LAHORE: Caretaker Chief Minister Punjab Dr. Hasan Askari has said that caretaker government has fulfilled the promise of holding free, fair and impartial elections in the province. A national obligation has befittingly been fulfilled by providing an opportunity to the crores of voters to use their democratic right independently and in a peaceful atmosphere.
In a statement issued here today, he said that enthusiastic participation of the people in the election process is a clear proof that voters have expressed their full trust over the arrangements made by the Punjab government for impartial elections. Due to effective measures of the Punjab government, the law & order situation remained in control on the polling day. Foolproof security arrangements were made to maintain law & order and to provide peaceful atmosphere to the voters. The performance of police and other law enforcement agencies has remained commendable, he said. The cooperation of Pakistan army, rangers and political leadership is laudable for peaceful completion of the election process. The people have enthusiastically participated in the election process and this shows that Pakistani nation has great attachment with the democracy. He said that administration has provided every possible facility so that voters could use their democratic right and the security agencies have also carried out their duties in a professional manner. It is praiseworthy that people also exhibited discipline today, he added. Dr. Askari said that people have used their constitutional right by following the democratic norms; and they deserve accolades for this. It is sanguine that all the line departments have proactively worked to ensure peaceful, transparent and impartial elections. Punjab government has ensured free and fair elections with the cooperation of all segments of the society and we are thankful to Almighty Allah and people for that, concluded the Chief Minister.
