12th Citi-PPAF Microentrepreneurship Awards ceremony held

LAHORE : The Citi–PPAF Microentrepreneurship Awards (CMA), delivered in partnership by the Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund (PPAF) and Citi Foundation the philanthropic arm of Citibank N.A., Pakistan, announced the national winners of the 12th Citi–PPAF Microentrepreneurship Awards. The honourable Governor of the State Bank of Pakistan, Tariq Bajwa was the chief guest at the event. Naseem Maseeh from Karachi and Sanobar from Hyderabad were the national winners for the 12th CMA. Naseem is the owner of a stitching centre, earns Rs50,000-Rs60,000 per month, and has trained more than 5,000 girls in his centre. Naseem is physically disabled but he never lost hope and was encouraged by The First Microfinance Bank Ltd. to start his own business. Starting his business with only 2-3 stitching machines and now runs a center with more than 100 machines, Naseem’s journey has been inspirational. ‘CM Complaint Cell to be more activated, upgraded’ BOSR LAHORE: Minister Information Ahmed Waqas Riaz has said that on the directions of Caretacker Chief Minister of Punjab, the working of Chief Minister Complaint Cell would be more activated and upgraded so that the problems of the masses could be resolved at the earliest. He said that this Cell working at Club Road already attending a number of complaints and persons daily and Chief Minister Dr Hassan Askari Rizwi has directed to take more stern and immediate action against such persons negligent in performing their official duties so that people’s problems could be addressed. He said that complaints against Police, administration and other departments are registered with this Chief Minister Complaint Cell and all the departments should remain vigilant as no negligence would be tolerated by the Government. —PR
