ISLAMABAD/LAHORE: In much expected move, the caretaker federal government appointed the chief secretaries and inspector generals of police in four provinces on Wednesday.
According to separate notifications issued by the Establishment Division Islamabad, Akbar Hussain Durrani has been appointed Chief Secretary Punjab and Akhtar Nazir has been posted as Chief Secretary Balochistan.
Major (retired) Azam Suleman has been posted Chief Secretary Sindh while Naveed Kamran Baloch has been posted Chief Secretary KPK.
All the four incumbent chief secretaries have been ordered to report to the Establishment Division.
IG Syed Kaleem Imam has been appointed IGP Punjab, Additional Welfare & Finance Punjab IG Muhammad Tahir has been transferred and posted IG Khyber Pakhtunkhawa (KPK).
IG National Highways & Motorways Police Amjad Javed Saleemi has been transferred and posted IG Sindh while Additional IG Mohsin Hassan Butt has been posted IG Balochistan. The outgoing IGs will report to the Establishment Division Islamabad for further postings.
Jodat Ayyaz has been posted Chief Commissioner Islamabad.
Newly-appointed IGP Punjab Dr Syed Kaleem Imam has worked on high profile posts both at national and international level before his appointment as IG Punjab.
He is Ph.D in Politics and International Relations, with LLM in Human Rights Law from SOAS UK, LLB and is a Masters in Philosophy.
Imam has served as SP Sibbi, Naseer Abad, SSP Quetta, Rawalpindi, Islamabad, FIA Immigration, Chief Security Officer to Prime Minister, Director National Police Bureau, IG Islamabad, IG National Highways and Motorway Police and also as a Police commissioner in area of Darfur in Sudan under UNO mission.
Three peace awards from UNO, Qaid e Azam Police medal, Presidential award and Tamagha-i- Imtiaz have been awarded to him in return to his services. He has also been president of PTF and vice president of Police Service of Pakistan associations. He is treated very respectfully in police service for his professional, bold, honest, teamwork skills and brave decision making.
Police circles in Punjab are expecting a series of transfers in the field formations after the appointment of Kaleem Imam as IGP who is expected to assume the charge today (Thursday). Outgoing IG Captain (retired) Arif Nawaz Khan will relinquish the charge and report to the ED.
